DBA 5000 Series T3 Rotors on the RS3 8Y — Understanding the Temperature Stripes 👇
Those green / orange / red markings on the outer edge aren’t for style. They’re DBA’s Thermo-Graphic Heat Paint, designed to show you exactly how hot your braking system is running:
🟢 Green Stripe • Stays green until approx 458°C / 856°F • Ideal range for OEM or fast-road pad compounds
🟠 Orange Stripe • Begins to fade around 550°C / 1022°F • Indicates you’re pushing into heavy fast-road / mild track territory • Time to consider a higher-temp pad
🔴 Red Stripe • Changes colour around 630°C / 1166°F • Clear sign you’re operating in true track-use temperatures • You should be running full motorsport pad compounds
These stripes literally “read” your braking performance and tell you whether your current pad setup matches the heat your discs are seeing. If the paint is bleaching past 550°C+, you’re under-padding the car.
Paired with the anti-corrosion coating on both the outer edge and inner hat, the 5000 T3 is one of the most intelligent rotor upgrades for the RS3 platform.
